Welcome to this edition of All things medical. It was delayed for a month due to some technical reasons. Also it organized in chronological order instead of the categories. There are many interesting entries. However, as usual, be cautious before getting into some unproven treatments. I had mostly checked that the entries are medically related.

Health Tips 101 presents Skin Cancer Awareness posted at Health Tips 101.

Diane presents What are Natural Sleep Remedies posted at Lack of sleep.

GrrlScientist presents ScienceOnline09: Meeting the NCCU's BRITEs at Research Triangle posted at Living the Scientific Life.

James Colquhoun presents Heart Disease Prevention Made Easy posted at FOODMATTERS.

Health Tips 101 presents Tips And Tricks To Staying Healthy As We Get Older posted at Health Tips 101.

don reding presents The modern day lifestyle. Is this why we are so sick? posted at Red Dog's Health Topics.

Fenny presents Latest Beauty Tips posted at Prashant K Shukla.

Jerry presents Attraction, Inspiration, Healing, and Love posted at My Best Me.

GrrlScientist presents Singing in Slow Motion posted at Living the Scientific Life, saying, "Birdsong is the primary model system that helps scientists understand how the brain produces complex sequences of learned behavior, such as playing the piano. In songbirds, there are many interconnected brain regions that play specific and important role in the production of song. These brain regions are known as "song control nuclei." Two song control nuclei, the High Vocal Center (HVC) and the robust nucleus of the arcopallium (RA), are especially important for birdsong because damage to either prevents the bird from singing altogether. It was hypothesized that either HVC or RA could orchestrate the rhythm of the bird's song, acting like a sort of biological metronome, but the technology did not exist to identify which song control nucleus might play this role -- until now. In an elegant combination of physics and biology, two researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge invented a tiny new device that allowed them to identify HVC as regulating the rhythm of birdsong."

Madeleine Begun Kane presents Dental Verse (Limerick & Haiku Prompt) posted at Mad Kane's Humor Blog.
